Great Ocean Road - 2nd trip
Went with my sister, Einy & her boyfriend, Zaki. Stopped by at Geelong Shopping Mall, which was quite close to the beach. Aaaahhh, love the beaches along the Great Ocean drive. My favourite place is Torquay because it's the surfing capital. Plenty of surfers We also stopped at Anglesea, Lorne, Apollo Bay then straight to Port Campbell, where the 12 Apostles were. I had a minor headache because of the trip (winding roads) so I slept most of the time. Zaki really enjoyed driving those winding roads, especially at higher speeds. Thank god he's a skilled driver.

Paintball Fun on Easter Sunday
The 'battlefield' is somewhere near the border of New South Wales and Victoria. We left our house at 5.30 a.m. in order to get to the venue by 9 a.m. 14 people, 4 cars, 3.5 hours journey. I was pumped despite the lack of sleep the night before (I didn't sleep on the way to the venue). We were divided into 2 groups when we had received protective headgear, camouflage suits, guns & ammos. It was fun albeit tiring. Lunch (bbq) was provided, we even got easter chocolates. We left at almost 3 p.m. back to Clayton. Almost everyone got shot. Our bodies ached the day after.

I volunteered for the 12th FINA World Championships in Melbourne for 3 weeks. I worked at hotels in Melbourne CBD, taking care of athletes staying at the hotels. Got to meet with people from all over the world, I even managed to speak Spanish with people from Honduras, Costa Rica and Venezuela. My colleagues were great people, they were dedicated towards their work.

Eisya & Alia's 21st Birthday Celebration
We were both born on the same day 14/08/1985 so we had a joint 21st birthday celebration.
Vibe Cafe, St. Kilda at 8 pm on 19/08/2006
Theme: Vintage/Retro from 1920s to 1980s so every guest had to dress up
We had so much fun. Guests were served with bruschetta (appetizer) and Mixed Berry Cheesecake & Chocolate Mud Cake birthday cakes (dessert) paid by the birthday girls but they had to pay their own main meal (we're not that rich ya know!).
I love my hair (thanks to Melissa!) & makeup (thanks to Mun!). Everyone loved my dress & slightly-big shoes (bargains ).

Scavenger Hunt cum Surprise Birthday Party
Ahoy Mateys! We had a surprise birthday celebration for Mun. Cover up story: Scavenger Hunt.
I Baked the birthday cake Carrot Cake with cream cheese topping. The hunt was fun albeit tiring because I ran looking for clues. There were 3 teams: pokka dot, pink pearls & sunshine.I was in Team Sunshine which meant every member (supposedly) in bright yellow or orange clothes!

Commonwealth Games - Gymnastics Artistic
I attended another CG event: gymnastics artistic women's individual all-around on Saturday evening at Rod Laver Arena with my gal pals. Started the day going back & forth Clayton - City then bought CG t-shirt as souvenir. My sis joined us for an early dinner before we left for the games. Malaysians gymnasts were competing & lucky for us, Aiza borrowed Malaysian flag from her friend. It was a disappointing night, we didn't enjoy it as much as we thought we would. We disagreed (still are) with the unfair,one-sided judgement The audience wasn't supportive: they're biased Returned home straight after the event. Well at least I have another CG experience to make it up for this unsatisfying experience!

Went to the Commonwealth Games squash early rounds at Melbourne Sports & Aquatics Centre. My sis & I were late for the event but luckily for us, Nicol David's match hadn't started. I watched Beng Hee's match but he was losing 2 games at that time. We rooted for Sharon Wee because she managed to rise after losing 2 games & levelled with her opponent, but unfortunately she lost the last game. She must be pretty exhausted after those 5 games. Met some of the Malaysian players & my sister & I were the few who supported Malaysia. Took pictures with Nicol & Beng Hee. Wanted to take pics of Azlan Iskandar but we did a embarrassing thing so we waited until after the game to do so. That was definitely a bad move because he was defeated by his Canadian opponent & he was so pissed off. I felt that we had something to do with it but it's silly when we think about it because we weren't the ones who distracted him from winning the game. Let's hope Nicol David wins a gold for Malaysia.

My birthday party
Celebrated my birthday a few hours earlier (birthday's on Sunday). It was an all girls party with lots of eating, dancing & taking pictures. I even baked an apple cheesecake for the occasion. It was small but delicious. My second attempt at baking cheesecake. We changed into our pyjamas and watched Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights. We totally enjoyed the movie & Omg who would have thought Diego Luna = HOT!

Mun's birthday party
We celebrated Mun's birthday in the city. Went to St Kilda first to check out the flea market. I bought an expensive hair pin (almost $40) there. The guy demonstrated how to use those hair accessories on Aiza's, Melissa's & my hair. I was so impressed (have thick hair so it's hard to make hairdos) that's why i bought it. Then we had lunch at McDonald's St Kilda (Aiza & I bought subway though) Next we headed to the CBD & checked out the shops there. Melissa & I bought Black eyed peas & Gorillaz latest CDs for $15 each (cheapest you can get here). At 3pm, we watched Turtles Can Fly, an Iranian-Iraqi movie about war in Iraq & it was told from orphans' perspectives. Very dramatic, funny at times & highly recommended. Later, we had chocolate & coffee at Max Brenner. The waitress was bitchy, she forgot Mun's drink. The food was delicious, I really enjoyed my babka with chocolate dip. A Haven for Chocoholics!

Gold Coast & Brisbane trip
Trip to Gold Coast & Brisbane was from 29th June to 6th July. We stayed in Surfer's Paradise, Gold Coast until 4th July then dropped in Brisbane until 6th. It rained heavily for the first 2 days, there were floods in southeast Queensland (first since 1974, which my dad experienced so do you think it had something to do with the genes ). We stayed overnight at the airport & it was uncomfortable for me because i couldn't sleep. We took a train from Brisbane Airport to Nerang Station, Gold Coast.
There was no public transport service so we had to spend more money to get to our hotel by a limo. Our hotel looked shabby but the service was good & the gave us the perfect room as we only paid for 2 people. We had a long rest then walked around our hotel & nearby shopping areas. At night, Vinu (friend from pre-uni days) came & showed us around.
On Friday, we went to Sea World in the day & Dreamworld-turned-Screamworld at night. Sea World was fun though it was more for-kids theme park but Screamworld was overrated because less park rides in less time. I didn't go on rides because I was tired & the queue was long.
On Saturday, went to Pacific Fair shopping mall & Carerra markets. Didn't do much shopping. I returned the skirt i bought today on the next day.Had coffee & cake at night.
On Sunday, I checked out Broadbeach & Bond University where Vinu is studying. The uni is massive & resort-like, it looks more like a hotel than a university (I haven't developed my photos so no pics of the uni at the moment). Bought reasonably-priced bohemian-style tops at this wonderful shop. At night we ate at a seafood restaurant
On Monday, we took a train to Brisbane. Brisbane is like a miniature of Melbourne especially the shopping boulevard Queen Street Mall (=Melb's Bourke Street Mall). Southbank is one of the places worth checking out. It's beautiful & big. Oh yeah we stayed at Palace Backpackers which reminded me of living in Halls last year.
On Tuesday, we went to University of Queensland in the morning & Mount Coo-Tha in the afternoon. UQ was massive & had great architecture. Mount Coo-Tha is the highest point in Brisbane so it was great to see the city from that distance. Watched Batman Begins at night.
On Wednesday, I did last minue sight-seeing by myself before we boarded a train to Brisbane Airport. Overall the holiday was great & I never thought holidays cost that much (thanks a million, Dad for sponsoring half of my holiday!).
In conclusion, I prefer Melbourne over Brisbane/Gold Coast:
1. Melbournians are friendlier & more multicultural!
2. Melbourne's unpredictable weather. Hey, at least i get to experience winter!
3. Melbourne's public transport is better
4. Well Melbourne city is better.
